Richard Y. Newton III
Richard (also known as Dick to those close to him) was born into an Air Force family. His father, Richard Y. Newton Jr. was a Colonel and bomber pilot for the Air Force. Dick graduated in 1978 from the Air Force Academy with a Bachelor of Science and Military History degree. He also obtained two Masters degrees from Webster University and The National War College.
Military Career
A 34 year military career culminated as a Lt General and the Assistant Vice Chief of Staff, US Air Force in Washington DC. General Newton was commander of Minot Air Force Base during 9/11 which is home to a portion of the nation’s B-52 bomber force and intercontinental ballistic missiles. He also oversaw the US Air Force 670K human resource enterprise.
General Newton was the commander of the nation’s first B-2 Stealth Bomber squadron and has operational experience with B-2, B-1B, B-52 bombers and the T-38.
As the Director of Global Operations for the Joint Chiefs of Staff he oversaw worldwide cyber security, reconnaissance, space and missile defense, the National Military Command Center and US military special technical operations.

Since transitioning from the Air Force, Dick has served on corporate boards, most notably Director of Victory Portfolios III, Victory Capital Management, Inc. (NASDQ: VCTR), ELTA North America, the U.S. subsidiary of Israel Aerospace Industries, among others. He also served as the Executive Director of the prestigious Union League Club, New York City.
He is currently a Managing Partner for Pioneer Partnership Development Group and the COO of BenchMark5 Management. He serves on the National Security Advisory Council of the US Global Leadership Coalition.
Additionally, Dick is the Senior National Security Contributor for NewsNation cable news network and provides commentary on iHeart Radio. He is also a faculty member with the Thayer Leader Development Group located at West Point, New York.
